(In Peru, they pick fallen branches and twigs of the B. graveolens tree, a practice approved by the Peruvian government to prevent trees from being cut down for wood harvesting.)
Directions: Using a candle or flame light the Palo Santo stick by holding the stick downward at a 45-degree angle. Allow 30 seconds for the stick to burn. Blow the flame out and place it in a heatproof dish.
Always burn in a well-ventilated location and catch any ash or embers carefully. Always keep an eye on your lit bundle. Keep out of reach of children and pets. If you are pregnant or have asthma or other respiratory problems, you should get medical advice.
